I'm in the process of setting up my second grade classroom for the 23rd time. Yesterday I had to throw out one of my cheaply made bookshelves that displayed books on our IB (International Baccalaureate) units. Some of my other bookshelves are missing notches to hold the shelf in place, which can be quite dangerous when students are selecting books to read in class or books that they'd like to read at home. We are also reading buddies with a kindergarten class. I often see my students standing near my shelves with their younger buddies looking for a book. These new shelves will help my emergent readers select books by their illustrated covers. I take pride in my collection of books and love reading them aloud to my students. In turn, I hope my students will enjoy reading too!
