After School Snacks
Funded Mar 25, 2025Mahalo Nui Loa from the students of Ms. Tom's Afterschool Clubs! I host two after school clubs for students and they don't get home until 5:30-6:30p at night due to City Bus schedules and having to jump on another bus to transfer to locations near the mountains or a commute 10 miles outside of our school zone. These snacks are a great way to. help them stay in school a little longer to enjoy the activities to help them build social and emotional learning while working on their academics.”

Funded Oct 16, 2024Mahalo, from the students at Wai'anae High School! The impact from your generous and grateful gift has allowed students the opportunity to stay engaged, stay present and participate because they're not worried about their stomach aches, tiredness and grumpy attitude.
When creating this project, I looked at the times I had students raid my pantry, snack desk and small teacher fridge because they're hungry. And it wasn't just one student a day, it was more than 5-8 students a class period. I tried my best to create this project to help my after school students, because I try to get my students to eat our school breakfast and lunch - which isn't consistent in its health value and taste.
With the same students after school knowing I had these snacks, they started to come between classes, even during class time that I don't have them. I know they try not to be greedy, but knowing I have these snacks - they'll try their best to pay attention in their classes and mind. I never understood, but eating a snack has decreased bad behavior and increased attention and respect.”
With gratitude,
Ms. H. Tom

Funded May 6, 2023Mahalo, on behalf of myself and my students, we are grateful and excited to use the resources donated to us by those who have generously donated. Through your donation, we have been able to have more students participate in music through the use of drumsticks, mouthpieces, neck straps and reeds.
When the students saw the materials being taken out the boxes, it definitely felt like a great celebration. There eyes went big with all the possibilities that could happen now that the students would be able to play their instruments with ease and pride.
The next step with using these musical accessories is to prepare for summer band camp in preparation for their up-coming parades, sporting events and concerts.”
With gratitude,
Ms. H. Tom

Guitars Rock!
Funded May 18, 2022Mahalo Nui Loa for your generous donation to Guitars Rock! My school recently were given donated guitars that needed a little more love. A lot of the strings needed to be replaced and with your donation, they're sounding like NEW! Students are able to learn how to string a guitar and ukulele with confidence and picked a new hobby of learning how to play guitar/ukulele. The band room is sounding more like a music room again because of the donations. Students who cannot afford to play guitar/ukulele are able to learn and play each day before school, during lunch and after school freely.”
With gratitude,
Ms. H. Tom
