  • Help This Math Teacher Have One Less Problem

    Thank you for donating to the students at Sherman Elementary. With your contributions, we are able to build the students number fluency, increase classroom engagement, and maintain a stock of additional items for students in need.

    My classroom is excited to start using the materials. The large one hundred chart, finger pointers, markers, etc. Every item will be utilized and makes an impact in the student's learning.

    Thank you for believing and donating to my project. The students enjoy the materials and resources that were funded. I was able to enrich their experiences with what was funded to continue to impact their life academically and socially.

    For example, the classroom calendar is now apart of our daily routine to help build number fluency but to also learn about the days of the week. Students enjoy the aesthetic of the classroom with the RBG lights that were also funded. It's a classroom that students enjoy coming too.”

The background knowledge that the students have inside and out of the classroom is the foundation of all learning. Linking the students' personal life experiences to the content can help them find meaning in learning, provide clarity, and promote retention of the learning. Relating content to students personal lives and experiences also serves the purpose of validating students lives, culture and experiences but before incorporating their story, I need help supporting their classroom environment. The materials will allow the students to have their basic classroom necessities met, such as flexible seating and pencils. Statistically, math isn't favored and or performs lower than other contents. Additional materials from my list will create a classroom that is engaging and supports their learning.
