• Let’s Get Hooked on Phonics!

  This is an overdue thank you in regards to my library you all helped me acquire for my students. My students went crazy when I opened up the boxes and it was basically an entire library just for them. All level readers from A-Z learning levels. Books leveled out by reading levels is EVERYTHING to a teacher, especially when you have so many different leveled learners! Thanks a million for giving my students a fair chance at reading...not to mention books they ENJOY! Because lakeshore is so organized, I will be able to keep these books for years to come for future readers!”

• Kindergarten Enrichment

  I just want to thank you al so much from donating to my DonorsChoose project Kindergarten Enrichment. This was a HUGE help because I was able to purchase an entire kindergarten and first grade curriculum. This will not only help my students this year, but many years to come. A curriculum is a standards-based sequence of planned experiences where students practice and achieve proficiency in concrete content and applied learning skills. Curriculum is the absolute central guide for all educators as to what is essential for teaching and learning, so that every student has access to rigorous academic experiences.

  These donations ensure that everyone in the classroom is equipped with the fundamental tools to thrive in school. When you donate necessary school supplies, you relieve many families of a financial stressor that influences how prepared their children are for curriculum.

• Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader!

  This particular project was for my leveled reading library. This gave my students the ability to select reading materials at their appropriate reading level. Leveled texts are texts that are made for the student to interact with for a "real life" purpose such as learning something new or to laugh at the antics of the main character. This makes leveled texts motivating and enjoyable for students to read. When students are motivated to read they are more likely to read.

  In kindergarten, it is imperative to make reading interesting and fun right away. This is the foundation to each child's reading, writing and speaking skills.”

  Title one schools like us at Wayman Academy of the Arts usually need all hands on deck. Us teachers can only provide so much so it is up to us to be our students' advocates to get them what they need. Donors choose has been the best blessing for any teacher because not only do the successfully funded projects help out our classroom but it proves to our students about helping each other, coming together, and bring a part of your community.

  With this particular project fulfillment, it brought my bare, empty classroom to life! We are a title one school with not a lot and every little donation makes a huge difference to these children. Not just now but for years of kindergarten students to come. Kindergarten provides your child with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and study skills that he will use throughout his schooling.
