These materials will help me provide a more hands-on approach to emotional intelligence learning. The journals will be used for self-reflection and the books are to teach students EQ skills and practice them together in class. Emotional intelligence is a sort of abstract concept that can be difficult to grasp. Through the use of visual cues and games, I hope to make the subject tangible, and therefore more impactful for the student. The game will specifically give the students an opportunity to become more familiar with themselves, their emotions, and how to identify them. The other classroom decor, such as posters, and resources, should they be provided, will allow me to create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and immersed in a culture of quality mental health development. A solid EQ foundation will provide the tools necessary for students to lead quality and successful lives.
