My students will be using the balancing buckets to visually see how an equation is represented and the steps needed to solve it by working backwards. By seeing that each part of the equation is placed into each bucket, they can slowly start removing pieces to see how one side is affected vs the other. This will help them realize the importance of working together from both sides. The multi-shape liter set will allow students to visually see how volume works by pouring water in each shape and calculating how it compares to other 3D shapes.
