Many of the students that receive speech-language therapy services have not just speech-language delays, but difficulty with learning, attention, and focus. Wobble Chairs provide the students with many benefits such as: 1) Sensory input and energy burning: Many of my students have difficulty focusing and attending to task. I typically work with students for a 30 minute session, and we have a lot to do in a short amount of time each week. The Wobble Chairs allow the students to move in a non-disruptive way. They get the stimulus their muscles are looking for, making them more attentive and focused during speech therapy sessions. 2) Improved posture and muscle tone: helping to strengthen the core abdominal and trunk muscles which, in turn, increases motor control for fine motor tasks such as using a pencil and scissors. 3) Increased blood flow : As students move during active seating, it gets the heart pumping and the blood flowing. A better blood flow means more oxygen gets to the brain. More oxygen to the brain means an increase in brain function, which leads to improved focus and better knowledge retention.
