  • Do You Hear What I Hear?

    Funded May 4, 2022

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but I believe it takes a caring, supportive community to raise a band program. With our new Zoom recorder, we’re going to raise the bar for excellence in musicianship by improved our ears. Thank you for your support of our program!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Glasgow

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 2 other donors.
  • Marching to a Beat of Our Own

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Wow! My students and I were so excited to receive our Dr. Beat in the mail and use it for outdoor marching rehearsals. My student leadership are so grateful for the equipment because it allows them to focus purely on assisting members with music and marching instead of trying to talk over a clanging cowbell with unpredictable projection across our field. As we are looking forward to our 2022 season, we plan to implement it even more during fundamental blocks and drill downs with our new members.

My student leadership team for the 2022-2023 season is already making plans to better teach fundamental marching technique and they are already arguing over who will get to use the Dr. Beat first! I believe we are on our way to becoming a strong, cohesive, and polished marching band for field performances as well as parades. The subdivision feature is going to help us clean the precision of marching for uniformity while also keeping us honest about our rhythmic integrity.

Thank you for supporting us on our mission to raise expectations and the caliber of our young musicians. We are eager to see the fruition of a bright future in our band!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Glasgow

  • If the Instrument Fits, Play It

    Funded Sep 15, 2021

Thank you for giving my students the chance to try all of the instruments in a safe and healthy way to find the perfect fit. My students are excited to use the kits and find their instrument pairing. I couldn't have made their first experience in band as positive as it will be with the addition of these kits if it wasn't for your generous donation. Thank you from the depths of our hearts. We can't wait to make music together!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Glasgow

After over a year without performing, my students are itching to make music together under the Friday night lights and on the curtained stage. Through the past year, we have been unable to rehearse together and barred from sharing our love of music with others, but we have a unique opportunity to bring the music back. This year we can return as stronger musicians than before, with your help. The Dr Beat Metronome is an essential tool of the music classroom because it helps individual students and the band as a whole. This technology would develop musical independence and problem-solving because it helps students practice without a conductor. It would help my younger students recover from the year-and-a-half of lost time because the variety of settings can make complicated rhythms easier to understand by breaking the rhythms into simpler divisions. My older students will be able to use this device in small section rehearsals, which would encourage students to grow as leaders and musicians. As a band, a Dr. Beat would make rehearsal easier for all students to hear the steady beat and make music together once again.
