RTI (Response to Learning) students are often in my class as a final push to see if they can make progress before being referred for special needs evaluation. These are students who are struggling to keep up with their classmates and still show severe needs after working in smaller groups with their classroom teacher. As with any struggling learner, it is important to use multi modal ways to get them to learn the skills they need to succeed. Access to technology through the use of ipads will provide the opportunity to play interactive games, listen to audio books, work in their online reading program, and search for visual pictures to support their comprehension.
