My students will be able to use the rugs and pillow seating around my classroom to break up the monotony that sometimes consumes a math class. These seating options other than the provided school desks will allow for greater collaboration and student choice in my classroom. Being able to have a choice will allow my students to engage more and be an active participant in their learning. We focus on positive behaviors and incentives at my school district and allowing students a choice for their seat during partner, group, or individual work time will foster greater engagement for my students. I understand many of my students focus and participate greater when they have a safe and secure place to learn. My classroom was remodeled last year and went from carpet to all tile. I am requesting these rugs and pillows to bring back that sense of "home" to my classroom to better reach my students and allow them to feel the most comfortable in my class.
