  • Mom it’s here!! Engaging reading with magazines

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

The families were overjoyed with the news that their family received a subscription for the year. Each week they receive a paper magazine and they have online access to the magazine, video about the topic, and an interactive game.

As one parent told me, "this allows a safe place for my son to be engaged online and it's all educational! He really loves clicking and reading different magazines or watching the videos."

These magazines have ignited interest in print and reading which is so essential at this young age. Thank you for supporting us in this opportunity!”

  • Summer Forget Me Not

    Funded May 8, 2024

The original intent was to create math bags for students to take home over the summer; however, by the time the project was funded the soonest I was able to get the materials was August. Therefore, I pivoted the intent to still work with families but instead of sending them home for the summer I am using the materials to create different activities for the families to do on a weekly basis.

With your support I was able to use the materials to make a variety of different bags to rotate every week. The families get the bags on Friday to work over the weekend on the bag and fill out the survey before returning. Each bag works on different skills and guide the families through different math activities.

For example, there are bags that work on counting out objects, bags that work on sorting materials and describing their attributes, bags that use pattern blocks to work on shapes and spatial relationships, bags that work on measurement, bags that work on comparing quantities and using comparative language, etc. My paraprofessionals and I create 20 bags at a time to rotate through 6 weeks so each week students receive a different activity and it gives us time to create the next 6 weeks worth of bags.

By working at home and at school these students will be ready for kindergarten! Included in the pictures are some examples of the math bags created so far with very brief descriptions. Sincerely these bags are having a huge impact on these families experiences and the exposure and opportunities the students are being given at home that would not have been possible without these materials. Thank you!”

  • Creating Life Long Readers

    Funded Dec 14, 2023

Thank you so much for your support, these bags are sturdy and large and allow for our students to easily bring the books to and from home damage free. Our families have read about 2,200 books so far at home and without a safe way to transport the books our program would not be such a success.

The students also love the cushions in our library and come read books more frequently, which promotes so many literacy skills as they share their favorite books that they read at home. Truly thank you so much for helping us promote reading at home and bringing those shared literacy experiences into the classroom!”

  • Bubble, Pop, Hop! Sensory Supports For Our Classroom

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

These donations have helped our classroom SO MUCH! The lamp gives the auditory and visual input that calms our room all day. The light covers drastically reduce the harsh light and makes the room so much friendlier and welcoming. The students use our liquid tiles in the calming corner and library and it adds great input for jumping. The fidgets are throughout the centers and the students use them often when they need a break and enjoy stretching and squeezing them. They love the sensory rings and we have added them to our tables and our light table. The other sensory bin has had several items in that and they love exploring the items.

They were so excited every time we received a new box and even I couldn't wait to open them and put them in the classroom. We were all super excited and bursting with anticipation. They still love these items just as much as the first day they arrived and they are a daily staple in our routine!

Truly these items have made a huge impact on our room. Everyone walks in and notices how much calmer it feels just with the light covers and calming vibration sounds from the lamp. These students, and the students that will follow in years to come, thank you very much!!”

  • Sensory Heaven, Jump, Wiggle, Pop On Over!

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

Words can't express the gratitude I have for your support to our classroom. When adults enter our room their first comment is how they want to use the materials and how it seems like a fun room to be in. Imagine the impact on the children if adults are jealous! The children use the materials daily, from the platform swing, to the fidgets, to the gel sensory stepping pads. We placed the sensory light sleeves above our water table and swing and over our science/ sensory area and library and the students really enjoy using these areas with the less harsh lighting. Our additional sensory seating has also improved students ability to focus and get their needs met not only during our large group time but also during our centers, my favorite is the yellow donut seat that holds up to 300 pounds so even teachers can sit on it, it helps everyone regulate! The pop tubes, pop it fidgets, and suction cup toys are all favorites that the children (and adults) look for. They really do use the materials on a daily basis and it helps all students have access to the materials they need to regulate and be able to be fully engaged. Tantrums, crying, and anxiousness can all be redirected to one of the sensory experiences to help regulate them and it has transformed our classroom, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Raquel

My students need help self regulating in general but especially after a full year of remote learning. The sooner a child learns to self regulate the more success they will have not only in school but in life. These materials provide students a variety of opportunities to address a diverse sensory diet so that students can find what works for them. Once students are regulated their ability to focus improves and allows them to fully immerse themselves in learning. Our classroom would benefit from any support you are able to provide!
