Calming Area
Funded Jan 4, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation to create a calm corner in my classroom! This project has had a positive impact on my students in various ways. Firstly, it has provided them with a safe and comfortable space to unwind and relax, which is essential for their mental health and well-being. They now have a place where they can go to take a break from the stressors of the day and recharge their batteries.
Since the arrival of the new resources, my students have been using the calm corner during independent reading time, as well as during moments of high stress or anxiety. They have also been utilizing the art supplies to create calming art pieces which they can display in the classroom or take home.
When my students first saw the materials, they were overjoyed and excited to use them. They couldn't wait to cozy up on the bean bags with a good book or to experiment with the art supplies. It was a pleasure to see their enthusiasm and eagerness to utilize the new resources.
Moving forward, my students will be using the calm corner as a space for mindfulness and meditation practices. We will be incorporating breathing exercises and guided meditations into our daily routine to help improve focus, concentration, and self-awareness. We will also continue to use the art supplies to explore creative expression as a means of relaxation and self-care. Thanks again for your generosity and support - we couldn't have done it without you!”

Creating a Diverse and Complete Library and Classroom Set Up
Funded Jul 29, 2021I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! What I was thankful for this year is the love and support I received when I began my journey as an Elementary School Teacher. Not only was my project's goal reached in under half an hour, everyone collectively donated more than four times the amount! I can't wait to use those leftover funds after the new year for exciting school projects. My students ask me every week if we can have a class pet but I'm not sure if they are ready (note: more like I am not ready) for that just yet!
A bit of a project update: my students use all the resources we received each and every day. Because many of my students come from working class families, they first arrived to school under equipped. Thanks to you all, I am able to make sure each student is able to go about their day not having to worry if they have enough paper, a pencil to write on, or a book to read. Personal whiteboards are used during Math, journals are used during Social Studies, and art is created on a consistent basis. Everyone in Room 25, myself included, are grateful for you.
Coming out of Virtual Learning, my students have had much catching up to do. For example, while a majority read below grade level, many of my students have made great progress in the three months we've been in person. I am extremely proud of each and every one of my students for the hard work and dedication they put every day. Having just finished conferences, I can also share that the Parents and Guardians are also thankful for the support and care their children receive. One parent told me how her son was in Kindergarten he used to cry every day because he hated school. Now he wakes up every morning excited to learn and play with his friends. Thanks again for supporting public school education and our future generation.”
