  • Everyone Deserves a Seat at the... Rug

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you once again for donating to our classroom! Because of you our children have clean, cozy space to sit when they are doing their works.

The kids have thouroughly enjoyed the new rugs. We do not have any carpeting in the classroom, so the more rugs in the room, the more real estate there is for the children to spread out and be confortable. In the montessori classroom, a lot of our works take up a lot of space so having more room for materials is extremely helpful!

Attached are some photos of the kids with their works out.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Szacon

  • Inspiring Artists One Sketch at a Time!

    Funded Jul 24, 2021

I would like to thank you once again for your generous donations. When our students recieved their new sketch books they were so excited! They could not wait to get started. We have made it our Friday afternoon activity and they look forward to it every week. On Thursday's we have a farmer that comes to visit the school and brings different animals with him. Our sketches usually revolve around the animal of the week.

Because of you, our children's confidence in their artistic abilities has grown already. They love to look back at the drawings that they have done so far and are always so excited to show off their newest work when they are done.

Attached are some of the students work so far.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Szacon

Drawing plays a big role in cognitive development. When students are drawing they are learning to write and think creatively, develop hand-eye coordination, hone analytic skills, and conceptualise ideas. Have you ever heard someone say “I can’t draw”? I have heard it all too often. I would like to create a space for all students, regardless of their ability, to use drawing as a way to practice their skills, organize their creative ideas and at the end of the year be able to look back and reflect at the growth they have shown. Drawing all throughout the school year students will be able to see their progress. This will boost their confidence in their artistic abilities and open them up to even greater learning opportunities outside of their sketchbook!
