It might seem counterintuitive that a high school would need a washing machine and dryer. You might remember high school as a time in your life when you stressed about the prom, learned the pythagorean theorem or were compelled to muddle your way through Shakespeare’s Sonnet #18, Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day. Where did learning about the spin cycle fit into the curriculum? At our high school, we have over sixteen hundred students and well over a hundred faculty and staff. Our school has the population of a small city! We have hundreds of classes which meet daily, a food service that distributes 3 meals per day to hundreds of kids. We have dozens of after before and after school clubs, activities, practices and games. A public school also supports students of all types. We have dozens of students who have an STLS (Students In Temporary Living Situation) status who are, effectively, homeless. We have students who have myriad health and physical needs. We have science labs, art classes, field trips, dance and theater performances. It doesn’t take long to imagine how many uses that one school (small city) might have for a washing machine. Please help support us to support our many students with this important addition to our school.
