Doodling to Success!
Funded Sep 6, 2022Thanks to all the donors for the generous donations of art supplies! My students loved all the new supplies and showcased a lot of their artistic skills with many of our projects and doodle notes! Towards the end of the semester, we had many creative art opportunities for all students. I had my ninth graders help make "Save the Earth Project Poster" and add more colors and doodling for their weekly notes to help them process the content. We also use the supplies for our ASG (Associate Student Government). To close the year out we made a Word Wall. It consisted of the definition and pictures of the new vocabulary words we learned in Biology this quarter. Students love our school so much that they feel comfortable enough to come during their break to help out! They helped decorate our bulletin boards and drew pictures to hang around my room.
I'm so grateful that I am able to provide all the wonderful supplies to help my students with their learning. I believe there are many ways to teach students and art is a powerful way to do so. Many students express themselves differently and not all teaching styles cater to them. I try finding ways for everyone to understand what goes on in our class so no one is excluded.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Yuan

Funded Apr 16, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my Donors Choose. My students really appreciate the abundant amount of supplies we have received from this project. I enjoy seeing smiles on their faces every time they get to decorate something new we are working on. Some of our recent projects would include making biome posters, coloring art to decorate our walls, and making posters for our school clubs. The students really enjoy art and I feel like I really get to see their personality in everything they make.
Before your donations, my students didn't get to express their creativity enough because they didn't have the supplies they needed. Now, I see the smiles on their faces. They share their creativity and emotions in the art they make. They give stories behind the art they create and it makes me feel like I know them on a more personal level. They share information about themselves that I would've never found it if we didn't do these art activities.
Not only do my students appreciate and love the donations, but so do the staff members . We have an art club at my school and before these donations, they were using old supplies from last year. Now, they are able to start new activities with better supplies. I think the supplies you have determine the art you make. If the students see that the art supplies they are using now are destroyed, dirty, or broken, they will feel less motivated to use it. The outcome of their work is so different now due to the supplies they have. It represents them more and clearly shows the vas amount of effort the put in.”

Funded Nov 10, 2021Thank you so much for your donations. For the past few weeks, my students have been very excited to be in Art Club. We have new students join every week to paint and relax. I have a few students who are very quiet in the classroom and have been going through a lot in their personal life. However, they have opened up in the recent weeks during Art Club because it gives them the time and place to express their feelings. Every week, students work on a new piece. We have students painting sunsets, empowering quotes, and Black History celebration pieces. It is so amazing to be able to keep these lovely pieces and decorate our hallways.
When we first received these supplies, we were all very grateful and excited. My students have been asking to paint since last year and it was a shock to them that we finally had the supplies. Recently, we have been focusing on watercolors. In the future, our goal is to work on a bigger canvas and use the acrylic paint. Overall, we are all so grateful and thankful for all these lovely supplies you have given us.
My students look forward to every Thursday when we meet during Art Club. Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Yuan
