  • Gym Equipment Please!

    Funded Mar 13, 2021

Thank you so much for making such a positive impact on our class. The students were thrilled when they unboxed the flag belts and soft balls. They were even more excited when I explained what the flag belts were for and how to use them. Since then we have used the flag belts each day during recess for games like Beanbag Rush, Pizza Maker and Capture the Flag. Normally these games require running and tagging your opponent and that could become dangerous because kids tend to lose their balance when they are tagged. Now, because the of flag belts these games are much safer. Students simply pull their opponent's flag without tagging them. You have made wonderful difference in our school year.”

  • Scholastic, It's News for Us

    Funded Aug 18, 2019

You are too kind and rock stars to our class! Not only do the kids love the Scholastic magazine but they also love the resources that come with it. There are fun handouts, and the Scholastic website provides additional information for them through videos and educational games and activities. The students have told me that they have really enjoyed the focus on history that Scholastic seems to often include in their editions. This magazine has led to some of the best conversations our class has had this year. Most of all I love seeing the look on their faces when they come back from lunch and the magazine is waiting for them on their desks. The lit up faces, huge smiles and sharing with each other are such a joy to see.

Thanks again for your generosity and for thinking of our class.”

    Mr. DeFelice

  • Time for Us to Have Time for Kids

    Funded Aug 18, 2019

Thank you so much for this wonderful gift! The kids love this magazine mostly because of the focus on the environment. I have really seen a change in the priorities and awareness of the students towards our planet and I this magazine has a lot to do with it. The discussions around climate change have been inspiring, in part because of the knowledge gained from Time for Kids magazine. Also, the students have told me that they love learning about new things and often they share that same enthusiasm with each other. You have made such a positive impact on these students and our classroom.”

  • Artist In Need

    Funded Oct 9, 2018

Thank you for your thoughtful gift and generous donation. Your kindness has made a such a positive impact on the students. Given the supplies they can make anything and I've seen it firsthand. I've uploaded photos of them decorating heart mobiles that will hang in our classroom. They have used the supplies in mathematics to demonstrate solving a problem with pictures, numbers and words. They have published literary essays and colored pictures that match their writing. Also, they just have a wonderful time using the supplies throughout the school day. Monitors make sure everything is organized the right way and there is a sense of pride in the classroom in regards to caring for the glue, markers, and chalk.”

  • Scholastic is Fantastic!!

    Funded Sep 27, 2018

Thank you for this remarkable gift! Scholastic News magazine has become one of the highlights of the week for the students. They are learning about the latest in science and technology as well as current events. There was one issue about the California wildfires that really made an impact on the students. They were saddened by the news and wanted to learn more about the entire situation. Without Scholastic News magazine I doubt that they would have ever even know about those wildfires. Students have told me that after reading the magazine they often go to scholasticnews.com and view the videos that support the articles. You have made a positive impact on the students and they truly appreciate what you have done for them.”

  • Time for Kids for Us

    Funded Jul 15, 2018

Thank you for this wonderful gift. The student's expressions each week when they receive the magazine is so enjoyable to witness. Also, this class seems to favor nonfiction books and articles over fiction which makes them appreciate it even more. Time for Kids has not only taught the students current information but has also taught them how to closely read an article. Each read focuses on a different lens such as main idea, how information builds on what was previously read, vocabulary and other important skills. They also learned about the many text features of nonfiction reading such as captions, headings, photos, glossary and sidebars. Thank you again for your kindness.”

  • Costumes For The Cast Please!

    Funded May 28, 2018

Thank you deeply for giving the students the opportunity to express themselves through the performance arts. We have begun rehearsals for Character Matters, a musical about how fairy tale characters learn important character building lessons. The costumes add so much to the student's confidence and enjoyment.

The students were so thrilled during the "unboxing" of the costumes. They spoke of their favorite costumes, tried them on, laughed at themselves and really were motivated by the thought of wearing them. You have done a wonderful thing for our students and school. Thank you for your generosity and for making our show a reality.”

  • Supply the Artists!

    Funded Aug 7, 2017

Thank you so much for your generosity! The washable markers, and glue sticks are being used daily. The students have used them to make cards, 3-dimensional shapes (that couldn't have been made without the glue sticks), and incredible writing pieces. In addition, they produced amazing Halloween projects like ghosts, jack-o-lanterns and candy corn. Also, the students have taken pride in caring for the materials. They are always checking to ensure that the markers and glue sticks are capped and facing the same direction. Thank you again for this, you have made a daily positive impact on our classroom.”

  • Time for Kids for Us Please!

    Funded Jul 27, 2017

Thank you for this incredible gift! The Time for Kids magazine has become one of the best highlights of our week. The students enjoy learning about current events from around the world as well as the latest in science. We just completed our informational unit in writing and many of the students chose to write about topics that they had learned about from reading the Time for Kids magazine. The magazine has also provided us with thought provoking questions to consider and has led to some of the best classroom discussions of the year. Also, the parents love this magazine and have told me that they enjoy reading it as well! I will always appreciate what you have done for us.”

    With gratitude,

  • Scholastic Is Fantastic!

    Funded Jun 18, 2017

Thank you so much for your generosity!! The kids love the magazine, are learning about our world, how to be better citizens and it is leading to wonderful classroom discussions. Scholastic magazine has become one of the top highlights of the week for the students and it's so cute seeing their excitement each week when I give it out to them. So far they have received and discussed four magazines. Their favorite has been the issue that focused on children's books author David Shannon and his work ethic. Thank you again for making a real difference in our classroom.”

This is a school that is located in Long Island City, New York. We are a Title One school and the students come from low income housing. Many of our students have recently migrated to New York and every student in our school receives free breakfast and lunch. Our school houses over 600 students and they need all of the extra support that your donations supply. Our physical education equipment is meager and outdated. Often we have to skip lessons and units in physical education because we do not have the proper equipment.
