Romeo and Juliet Retellings for Classroom Book Clubs
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for your donation of Romeo and Juliet retellings to my classroom. Currently, my advanced English II students are reading Romeo and Juliet. Last week, they participated in a 'book tasting,' where they read each book for ten minutes and rated each book to decide their favorite. They have begun to read their chosen novel and will soon write compare and contrast essays on their chosen novel and Romeo and Juliet. They have been really enjoying the unit and are diving deep into the novels.
Thank you again for the donation. It has made teaching Romeo and Juliet so much more fun and engaging for my students.”

Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. I cannot tell you enough how amazing it was to receive a gift card for Teachers Pay Teachers. I have been able to bring so many captivating lessons to my students in English I and II. I was able to get a really cool Romeo and Juliet workbook for my advanced English II students, which has helped them dive into the text and be more creative in their responses. My English II class enjoyed a True Crime unit where we are analyzing news articles about Lizzie Borden, and soon they will be giving speeches on whether they believe she is guilty or not guilty. My English I students have enjoyed many different lessons, and I was able to make our MLA unit much more intriguing for them.
I cannot describe well enough how much this donation impacted my classroom. Thank you so much!”

Funded Oct 21, 2021Thank you so much for helping to fund new books for my classroom library. You should have seen my 9th and 10th grade students' faces when they saw all the new books awaiting them! Many of the books on that list were requested by students, so that was an added bonus for them. They were also very thankful to see books such as cookbooks and self-help books. These have been helpful tools to many of them already.
In my classroom, we read independently for 10 minutes each day at the beginning of the class period. Students are able to chose what book they want to read on their own. When many of them began the year, they complained that they "weren't readers," and "did not like books," but that has changed dramatically. Thanks to the wide variety of books now in the classroom, students have a much easier time finding a book that speaks to them in some way. Many of them are now "racing" me, trying to see if they can read more books than I can. It is so fun! My goal for this year, as a first year teacher, was to create a love for books in my classroom so that these students can keep that love of reading for a lifetime. One student in particular was so excited to see a graphic novel version of 1984 because he had just finished his copy. He thought it was so cool to see it in a visual form.
Thank you for all your help in creating a lifetime love of reading and learning in these students.”
