Safe and Secure Counselor's Den
Funded Sep 19, 2021"Can I come to your office" was one of the sweetest things I heard this year! Students and staff have been commenting on how great and relaxing my office is. Thanks to your generous donations, students have found my office to be a safe, warm, and inviting place to come during times of trouble.
Students were immediately able to receive journals for recording their thoughts or just drawing. They begin to bring friends to my office to receive the items. On several occasions students that had the urge to self-harm were given fidget tools that they said helped curve the desire to hurt themselves. Many of my anxious students have received stress balls to using during class time. The biggest hit in my office has been the sand tray! Students just can't resist playing with the sand and designing, all while sharing their hurts, joys, and concerns. I must add more items to it! Tissue boxes, birthday cards, and headphones have all been given out to teachers and students.
As we start the second half of the school year, I have many new students coming and others that haven't had the opportunity to come to my office. My plan is to invite each student to my office to experience the warmth that your donations have provided. Each time I pass out a card or my sound machine is playing to calm a student I know they will not hesitate to come back to my office when needed. They find peace and comfort as they enter and receive all the tools they need to handle any situation they encounter! We appreciate everything we received.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Robinson
