I am a brand new teacher, however, I spent last year substitute teaching in a first grade classroom when the teacher for that class could not due to COVID fears, health concerns and technology was beyond what she could do. What started as a favor to a friend has turned into a new career. I am now the permanent teacher in the room and am looking to replace a lot of what was the original teachers. For example, the literacy organizers will be used mailboxes so I can keep communication between home and school organized and ensure we have a place for our reading logs that travel to and from school each day. A bean bag chair is to create a read to self area that students can earn time in for doing their first grade best during our read to self time. I have included a whiteboard and magnetic base ten visuals to place in the number corner to help visual learners.
