My third graders are always eager to learn and try new things. Continuing a "normal" school year after a pandemic has been challenging for my students, but it has not stopped them from wanting to be engaged in learning. A iPad Air will give students the latest technology to enhance their learning. The iPad will be used for various things in the classroom like conducting research and recording themselves reading a book or their personal stories. Students will be learning how to research online so that they can make an informational book about a topic that they are interested in (W.3.7). Another important aspect of third grade is for them to be able to listen to themselves reading to make sure they are reading at a good pace and are clear (SL.3.5). An iPad will benefit students in this way as they will be able to record themselves and listen to the recording so that they can reflect on where they are at. This skill benefits students in third grade and helps them become a fluent reader. Something that I also want to implement in my classroom is flexible seating. Flexible seating is a great option for young minds as they are able to choose where they sit and how they sit. Flexible seating allows students to also be more alert and focused while learning. By using flexible seating in my classroom I will be able to support student learning.
