Students need time to play and interact with their peers throughout the school day. Research conducted by Erwin (2019) demonstrates children's attention, working memory, and behavior improve following a recess or activity break. His research shows how important breaks are for student learning. The researcher examines the importance of play and the correlation between memory and behavior. My students need indoor classroom board games, dollhouse figures, and tactile resources for play. These resources will provide students with opportunities to communicate and develop peer relationships. These skills are necessary for their development in the 2nd grade.
