My goal is to use Dr. Seuss's themed lanterns, curtains, and wall stickers to create a classroom that is warm and inviting; thereby serving to meet social-emotional learning goals. The decorations will be one part of an intentional effort to design a place of safety and belonging; fun and creativity. I'm restoring and painting a rocking chair with a Dr. Seuss theme and have already obtained bean bags as well. With the addition of a soft, inviting carpet and wall stickers with Seuss quotes, I will create a cozy reading corner in our classroom library. I hope students will feel inspired to be creative, take risks, and demonstrate perseverance. I will use memo pads, nameplates, and additional materials to help children feel valued, grow in confidence, and develop independence. Dr. Seuss's books and plush characters will be used to connect stories with academic standards and moral focus content. With these efforts, intentional planning, and your help, my third graders will feel encouraged and inspired by the designs, stories, and values shared by Dr. Seuss. I hope my warm, inviting classroom will inspire children to set high goals, work hard to achieve them, and have fun as we learn and grow together this year.
