These books will enhance my students' comprehension of the subjects being studied. I will be reading aloud excerpts from the books, and I want the students to be able to read along with me as I do so. Hearing books read aloud benefits students, enhances instruction, models strategies, builds relationships, and fosters a reading community. High school students often miss this opportunity due to the perception they are above this, but I have found students enjoy this brief moment of science literacy. Having the book in hand will allow them to see the vocabulary when hearing the word. The books I have chosen are parallel to the content I teach, so it will enrich my instruction, supporting concepts and fostering deeper understandings. Students will see that science is so much more beyond a textbook and can be fascinating in everyday life.
