These materials accompany a tool that the student has demonstrated and been recognized for at the award assembly that will happen once a month. For the breathing tool, students are getting a measuring tape as a way to remember to breathe in and out, plus the measuring tape has a practical use to measure materials at home. It is a travel size, fits in the pocket, tool. With the quiet/safe place tool, they would be given color pencils as the incentive, in order to allow students time to color during times when students need a quiet time. Now with the popping key chains, those would go to students that demonstrate patience. The popping tool can use when needing to wait patiently and it can travel with them on their key chain. As for the earbuds, this would be given to students that are being recognized for using their listening tool. Students with these earbuds can use them at home and/or at school. The jump ropes are for students that have demonstrated excellency in respecting personal space. Lastly, the pencil holder would be given to students that use the garbage can tool. The garbage can tool is for students that are able to move on from small problems and/or solve them and move forward. The reason for the pencil holder is so students can put things away or using the materials (pencils, pens, highlighters, etc.) when needed. These incentives that these students will receive are well-deserved and recognize their commitment to social-emotional learning and social awareness.
