As all of the students in my classroom return to in-person learning, ensuring that they have space and materials to track their work and measure their progress will be crucial. In this project, I have included notebooks, glue sticks, and a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to fully support my students in setting up and using interactive science notebooks during the school year. Interactive science notebooks will allow my students to keep all of their science work in one place, and will enable continuity of scientific concepts and ideas. As we progress through the school year, students will be able to collaborate with and learn from each other using these notebooks to fully engage in the process of scientific inquiry. Supplies such as timers, eyedroppers, thermometers, measuring tapes, and a balance will help my students make concrete measurements, evaluate their hypotheses, and draw conclusions. Hands-on learning is the best way to solidify scientific concepts, and we will use these opportunities to connect math, art, reading, and writing to our science classes. Third grade science standards involve mass, volume, temperature, and energy, so these tools will be vital in ensuring that my students build deep and applicable science knowledge during the school year.
