My goal in teaching sixth grade is to prepare students for Jr. High. One way I'd love to help my students prepare for Jr. High English classes is to use novels to teach reading comprehension. This year I'd like to use the EngageNY curriculum to accomplish that goal and to get my students excited about reading. To help us get started though, we need the books! Class sets of certain books are needed to help me get this exciting program started in my class. The books are engaging, hit important key topics that cover other subject areas such as social studies and science. The EL (Expedentiary Learning) platform that EngageNY uses helps students see the relations of what they read to real-world examples in their lives today.
