I am a high school Health and PE teacher who also helps coach our girls soccer teams. I have been teaching Yoga PE classes as a Lifetime Fitness elective course for the last 9 years. This Breathe for Change Yoga Teacher Training professional development opportunity will help me continue to improve my skills and provide the best experience I can for my students. I've been interested in becoming a certified yoga instructor for the last several years, but yoga certifications offered by yoga studios are very expensive and rigid with their course schedules. When I saw this 200-hour Yoga teacher training advertised as on-line with flexible hours it seemed to be just what I was looking for. This Yoga Teacher Training is specifically designed for educators, combining mindfulness and SEL (social-emotional learning) strategies with yoga to cultivate wellness within students. I am excited to learn how to incorporate these strategies into all of my PE classes. Teachers need to be lifelong learners as well, and this class will help me to continue to grow as a coach, health, and PE teacher.
