  • Hydrating my Garden of Students!

    Funded Dec 20, 2014

From the bottom of all our hearts, thank you! My students were so excited the day they got these bottles.

Since we don't have a sink in our room, we lose a lot of precious time having to take water breaks. We all know that hydration is important and the water bottles have helped keep us that way.

Having the water bottles has also helped my students understand responsibility. The are responsible for washing their own bottles and keeping them filled. If they misuse them then they are taken away for a bit. It's been a great learning experience for all of us.

Because students don't have to leave the class to get water anymore we have so much more time for teaching and learning. Students no longer interrupt their own learning or the learning of others because of water breaks.

Again, thank you for your donations. They have been a great help to our class!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gerig

  • Oregon Battle of the Books Wish List!

    Funded Nov 22, 2014

On behalf my all my students and myself, THANK YOU! We are so grateful for your donations as they made our classroom full of adventure.

Many of my students participated in the Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) this year and were ecstatic when the books arrived! They just devoured them. As soon as they finished one they asked if they could check out another one.

All of my students, OBOB or not, enjoyed these stories. We have read many of them as read alouds. They always hate it when we have to stop reading and head out to recess. Imagine that, students who would rather hear a story than go out to recess!

So many of my students have benefited from these books. A lot of my students comes from homes in which they do not have nor can they afford books. They love taking them home, reading to their families, then bringing them back only to get another book.

Thank you so much for you gracious donations. They have made our classroom a much more intriguing place to be!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gerig

  • Put it on the Shelf!

    Funded Jun 18, 2014

Thank you so much to each and every one of you! You have amazing hearts and we are truly grateful for all your donations. Each of one you had made a difference in our classroom! Even though it may seem like a small thing, the fact that each student has a place for their things makes my students feel that more independent.

We use our crates every single day! Every student in my class has their very own crate in which they keep their book boxes, journals, and folders. These crates are right next to their tables so they don't have to go far to get their materials. This makes for very quick transition time, a huge piece of effective teaching. Although each student has a crate, we are still working on organizing our crates!

As we know, organization is not always an innate skill that everyone comes with. Cleanliness and organization are definitely a taught skill. They are also useful skills. My students are cleaning and organizing their crates at least two times a week. This is a skill that some of my students still need help with. However, all of my students want to be organized and these crates help us do just that.

Again, thank you so much for your generous donations. All of us are truly grateful and thankful for each of you. You have made our classroom just that much more great to be in!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gerig

  • Keeping Up with the Materials!

    Funded Sep 10, 2013

Thank you so much for your generosity! All of the items that were donated have greatly affected our daily routine in the classroom! The students absolutely love having a pencil sharpener that works and I love having students with sharpened pencils. It just makes the day flow so much better! We have also really enjoyed the bags and the tubs. Students can now have a clean table top to work at. They are much more organized than they were at the beginning of the year. I know that these items truly help some students keep from being frustrated because of a messy work place. Again, your donation is greatly appreciated! You have made our classroom a much easier room to work in!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gerig

  • Help My Students Save In A Flash!

    Funded Feb 1, 2012

Thank you so much for your wonderful donations that bought us the flash drives. These have been a great addition to our classroom! My students absolutely love using this technology. It is great to see my students learning the ends and outs of the technology that we as adults use all the time. My students have been using these devices to complete their small and major projects for class. They have been able to revise and save their PowerPoint presentations on one of the Thirteen Original Colonies. They have also written, edited and saved letters to send to various people. They are also able to help one another how to use these correctly. I truly love seeing them feel confident about using the technology we have available to us. They have also really improved the quality of students' classwork. My students are learning how to use computers not only for final drafts of their work, but also how to use technology as an editing tool. The flash drives allow them to edit their work in various places in our school and not be tied to just one computer.

Again, thank you so much for your generous donations. It is amazing to see how such a small piece of technology can help our classroom. Thank you so much for everything you have given our class because of your donations! We are truly grateful for what you have done.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gerig

My students live in Oregon. They are a very outgoing group who like to use their creativity and imagination while working and playing at school. Their interests range anywhere from playing various video games to creating different art pieces. They really enjoy working together in pairs and teams during class. Though that can be a very difficult task, they are truly learning how to work around and with one another and their differences.
