These materials will assist students, both within the class and at-home, in completion of assignments, real world projects, practicing curriculum in advance of assessments, and for numerous other reasons. Having the flexibility to allow students to use pencil to paper instruction one day, whilst transitioning to whiteboards to complete problems allows for higher student engagement during classes. Moreover, the artistic materials (i.e., colored pencils, pens, rulers, etc.) would assist students in personalizing their notes to allow for clearer understanding of concepts, completion of projects, and emphasis on key ideas. As individualizing education is the focus to allow for students with disabilities to succeed, improve in areas of deficit, and strive towards re-entry into the general education classroom, having materials that they could use for personalization/becoming motivated to learn are essential. Allowance of students to use these materials would provide them access to supplies they may not otherwise receive within their home, and use to continue completing work in their other courses. Ultimately, students with disabilities, especially in difficult subjects of math and English, would significantly benefit from materials used to individualize learning to their specific styles.
