  • iPads For My Future Techies!

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation to fund my project! The iPads have made my classroom - STEAM Studio - more fun, engaging, and streamlined! The students look forward to any opportunity to incorporate the iPads into their learning and projects! We are able to use them in many ways!

The iPads arrived in the spring last year and we immediately put them to use! Students began using them as a choice for center time where they were able to access multiple STEM and science related apps and games. Students were also able to use the iPads to connect to the Dash robots that we have here in the classroom. The older students were able to make a series of code to get Dash to talk, move, and respond to them. The younger students were able to access an app that enabled the iPad as a remote control for Dash! The excitement was contagious as they watched Dash zip around the room and make noises all from the control of their iPads!

In a few weeks, students in grade four will begin to use an app on the Ipads to make their own stop-motion videos using characters and action figures of their choice! These lessons and work would not be possible without the addition of the Ipads to my classroom. I cannot wait to see how their videos turn out!

Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Patterson

  • Full STEAM Ahead! LEGOs for All!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my Lego project! The students and myself were so excited when they arrived! It was like Christmas morning!! I organized the Legos and task cards into six bins so each group of three to four students has plenty to share!

Students in grades K, 1, and 2 began by covering the rules and expectations for the Legos and then off they went to explore the materials and build! The excitement in the room was contagious! They kept asking me to take their picture with their creations in order to show their parents and our school's principal! They were so proud of their achievements! These particular Lego sets and task cards make it easier for the youngest students to find the bricks they need and then put the Legos together! They made ice cream cones, crabs, mermaids and more!

Once the students become familiar with the rules and routines for Legos I plan to incorporate them as an additional building material for larger STEAM projects. For example, design and build a tower for Rapunzel or a bridge for the Billy Goats Gruff. Your donation really helps to make my STEAM class a success! Thank you!”

  • Seat Sacks = Less Germs

    Funded Jul 14, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my kindergarten classroom! Returning to full time in person learning has been exciting, rewarding, and challenging! Your donation of the Seat Sacks has really made a significant impact in my classroom.

Kindergarten is often a child's first real school experience. That being said, it is so important that the students and families' first impressions of the classroom are positive and memorable. The addition of the Seat Sacks in my classroom really helped to polish off the cleanliness and organization of the classroom. On the first day of school the students were so excited to find their seat with their name tag showing through the Seat Sack's clear pouch! They immediately wanted to look through all of the materials that had been set up and organized for them in the Seat Sack - their very own name tag, journal, crayons, pencils, and glue stick! The Seat Sacks also gave the families confidence knowing that the students had their own socially distanced space to work in with their own designated materials in order to control the spread of germs.

The Seat Sacks will continue to make a difference for many years to come! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Patterson

Students in Kindergarten traditionally sit at tables and share all materials. However, since returning to the classroom after the Covid-19 pandemic this is no longer an option. Students need their own individual classroom supplies and materials. However, keeping everything organized has proven to be a challenge! I believe that if each student has a "seat sack" their independent organizational skills will improve while keeping the classroom germs in check. The seat sack will allow for the organization of multiple materials: crayons, pencils, glue sticks, folders, notebooks, scissors, books, and hand sanitizer!
