Getting Hands-On with Science!
Funded Nov 24, 2024Thank you so much for your support of our 5th grade classroom this school year. The statewide Science test is always a daunting experience in this grade level, and the contribution you made allowed me to give our physical science benchmarks a more hands-on experience. My students loved seeing the boxes arrived and getting to have an in-class "unboxing" each time one was delivered.
The initial project was designed to allow students to explore multiple areas of our Science curriculum. However, when I went through to choose replacement items, I decided to focus on our current unit to allow students to use the items as we learned. We were even able to add some useful posters to our classroom walls for the first time this year! Our end-of-unit test came in almost 20% higher than previous areas this school year, and I attribute most of that success to our hands-on opportunities.
One of our next units when we come back from Spring Break is going to be the Human Body, and I know our 5th graders are looking forward to using the magnetic figure we received through this project.
Once again, thank you so much for your incredible support. It is donors like you who go above and beyond that truly make a difference in the classroom.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Burkhart

Funded Mar 6, 2022Thank you so much for the impact you made on our classroom as we finished the year strong. My students once again became excited to learn and participate in class. Once their momentum started, I noticed that they began to be more concerned with the learning process instead of the treats or rewards (a major success!).
We played games, won prizes, and reviewed for state testing in a manner that wasn't as scary anymore. All thanks to the items in this little project! I am so happy that the idea behind this really made the impact that I hoped and that my students not only felt recognized but also inspired!
Thank you so much for supporting students, especially with a trying year like last year ended up being.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Burkhart
