Nice, Safe Personal Learning Space

My students love their new cushions and flexible seats. They are enjoying reading independently and shared buddy reading in comfortable, safe areas in the classroom.
Students practice targeted skill development after taught in whole group. They like the choice of a private relaxed quiet space or buddying up with a peer.
With this variety in seating, students engage with more serious concentration and relaxation. Accelerated Reader scores have improved with more library books being read. Exact Path goals are being met because students love their comfortable workplace.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Dollar General Literacy Foundation and 3 other donors.

We are a classroom of third graders with large student tables. Students are mixed and ability group throughout the day. We do not change classes; therefore, all subjects are taught and integrated with many project-based learning. However, there is a time and place for individualized learning and assessments. Our classroom needs private learning desks.
