  • Can You Hear Me Now? Good!

    Thank you for the generous donation you made to our digital design classroom. Your donation was used toward the purchase of twenty sets of headphones. My students are using these headphones to focus as they watch video tutorials to teach them Adobe design skills. They complete projects on Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign by watching the video tutorials I create for them, pausing them, and practicing the skills for themselves. Because several students could not afford headphones, they previously had no choice but to read the captions in the videos. Now they are able to learn using the visuals, captions and the narrated audio as their guide.”

  • Paints for Personal Expression

    Thank you for your generosity in allowing us to purchase acrylic paint for our high school art room. My summer school art students were thrilled to see the new paints get delivered to our room. They used them to create hard edge paintings as their final summer school project. We still have a lot of paint left, and I have plans to use it for printmaking as well as general painting purposes with my students. These paints will enable us to pursue further mixed media projects in our classroom, such as altered books, painted paper collages, and paintings utilizing acrylic transfers.”

    This classroom project was brought to life by Emerson Collective and one other donor.
These paints will be used in the classroom with multiple classes of 38-40 high school students. The paints will be used on recycled and repurposed supplies, such as cardboard packaging, and foam boards for my high school students to create 2D and 3D artistic masterpieces. With these paints, my students will learn how to mix different color values, achieve a range of visual texture effects, and learn to work in the realistic and non objective artistic tradition. At the moment, most of my students are limited to using basic drawing media, so the paints will definitely help to broaden their artistic horizons as they learn to work with acrylic media.

About my class
