My students do not have actual science or social studies books. The Scope incorporates both and has a strong Language Arts component that is exciting, engaging and will promote sharing and discussion among my student. It will contribute greatly to the critical thinking, citizenship, collaboration and communication which is so vital for my students to become at ease with in this world. This will give them the opportunity to share their opinions using the materials as their evidence, discussing where they may have different perspectives but in a respectful way as a result of the great variety of stories information and variety. As they become comfortable with the collaboration, they will become more adept at using critical thinking skills to explain what they read.
