  • Reading Matters!

    Since our project was funded, the students have been all in on reading. Before, we were mainly using online resources to get our students reading. They would log into websites on their chromebooks such as Newsela and ReadTheory. We are still using these resources, but now students can also pick up a book from our little classroom library!

    It's been so helpful to have books of differing levels, languages and topics for students to choose from. They've been having so much fun exploring their options and trying out different stories and authors. It's also such a relief to get them to read without the distraction of being online!

    Reading is now a relaxing and personal time for our students thanks to their new library! Thank you so much!”

As a teacher at T. Middle School in Richmond, Virginia I have a diverse group of students and oftentimes, it is hard trying to find books they can identify with and find engaging. This project will help me to build a classroom library that is filled with books that are diverse, inclusive, and engaging. My list includes a variety of book levels, topics and languages! By including these, my students will be more eager to read which will lead to stronger reading skills and life longer lovers of reading!

About my class
