We know that not all children have the same learning styles. For children with disabilities, there may be more obstacles to overcome. For some students with autism, auditorily processing information can be more difficult and take longer. Finding the strengths that children have and using those to teach can lead them to higher levels of learning.
By using both visual and auditory modes of teaching, we are better equipped to help students with ASD as well as other students with disabilities. The visual materials will help the child to process what information is being relayed. This will help the child meet individualized goals based on pre-requisite skills that are needed in order to scaffold up to higher learning.
