Influencing Differentiated Minds
Funded Jul 17, 2024Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom. Your generosity has been observed by other who have entered my classroom. The students are loving their deferential seating. This seating has provided areas in the classroom for students to sit and enjoy reading time or while using their computers. The sensory wall has been a huge asset to our students with differentiated needs. This wall provides our students an area to to express their sensory needs. These new items helped to complete our classroom. The students are so excided each day they enter the class! Thank you so much once again for helping and contributing to my students with differentiated minds.”

Social & Life Skills For The Future
Funded Aug 16, 2023Thank you so much for giving to my classroom. Everything from the pens to the amazing refrigerator/freezer and everything in between is so appreciated. My classroom consist of students grades kindergarten through fifth grade and are in a self-contained classroom. The students are so kind spirited and are easily joyed. When receiving the packages from the mail and bringing them in to the classroom you would think it was Christmas morning. Some of the bigger hits with the student's were the games. This are used for strengthening their social skills. The refrigerator is used daily. This helps me to keep snacks and drinks on hand for my students. We also utilize the fridge for our "Tasty Thursday's." These are days where we self-help skills and cook small things such as muffins, cookies, homemade pizza, and more.
Thank you again for being a beacon of light and giving back to the students.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The SONIC Foundation and 7 other donors.Teaching the Ability and Not the Disability!
Funded Nov 17, 2021It is with great gratitude and appreciation that I submit this impact letter to you for your kindness and willingness to give, toward "Teaching the Ability and Not the Disability"! With your donations, I was able to supply my students with differentiated work and activities that meet their ability levels. With a class of active, curious kiddos, time for individualized assessments and work is precious.
Our work done during the school year is made to keep all students engaged and help keep the fun in learning. Having access to Teacher Pay Teachers allows me to access the community, content, and tools I need to teach at my best. Receiving these gift cards has been such a blessing for my classroom and for my students!
Thank you for your kind and generous donations! We are very appreciative!!"”

Sensory Seekers
Funded Jun 8, 2021Thank you so much for your contribution to my self-contained classroom. This past summer, with the help of your generous support, I was able to order 3 wobbly chairs for alternative seating and a sensory swing with a stand. The students in my classroom were very excited to see and use the new items that were in my room! Thank you for giving my students some important learning tools to enrich their learning environment and space.
It has been proven that flexible seating allows a child to move while they are learning and working on assignments. They can wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand, which provides several physical advantages. When a child is allowed to move, it can increase oxygen flow to the brain, increase blood flow throughout the body, and help with core and leg strength. This also helps them to burn more calories and increases their metabolism. Because of these physical advantages, it helps keep their young minds more alert and focused.
My students prefer flexible seating arrangements, so each one of these items are used on a daily basis. These devices allow my students to fidget while they are working. Studies have shown that the amount of time that a person can stay on task is determined by age. It is estimated you get 3-5 minutes of attention per year of life in PERFECT conditions. These perfect conditions could be identified as time alone to concentrate, uninterrupted time from phone calls, social media, or emails, the pressure of other tasks that need to be completed, and a quiet working environment. The classroom is a busy environment and requires students to stay on task to accomplish important assignments. Building in some wiggle time throughout the school day helps the students to achieve their goals because they are learning in a positive and relaxed environment. They feel that they are in control of their learning environment when they have the ability to choose how they want their learning space to operate. The students in my classroom utilize wobble chairs when working in small groups. During small groups, the students are allowed to wobble, spin, and move in ways that help them to learn.
The Sensory Swing provides an avenue for processing and improving their sensory needs. It helps my students to calm down or get the sensations they're craving! Swinging allows a child to neutralize the disruptions that are caused by their vestibular system, which can often originate in the inner ear. The smooth, back-and-forth motion can be soothing and calming to a child, which is why you will often see swings utilized in the classroom with children with Autism or ADHD. Our Sensory Swing has provided a sensory tool that helps ease the learning process.
Your donations are greatly appreciated and will be used to help students to learn and grow in a positive way. Thank you for your timely contribution to my classroom.”
