Successful in Social Skills and Creative in Art

Funded Aug 10, 2024

First, I would like to say there will never be enough thank you's to offer you for your kindness and generosity. The gift that you have given our students means so much to me, but also to them. Our students have been blessed by your giving nature.

In Art, our students have been utilizing the art materials you have blessed us with quite frequently. We have been learning about different artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Vincent Van Gogh, and most recently Andy Goldsworthy. They students have researched the artist and then we spend 2-3 weeks trying to paint some of their art work. The students are having so much fun and are so proud of the work they are creating.

In Social Skills, wow! We have been playing the My feelings game and doing some of their art discussion topics. I wish you could see some of the improvements these kids have made. We have a nonverbal student who is at least making sounds like he is answering questions. We have one student who usually mimics, that is actually providing us with his own answers. The students are using their manner and telling the cooks thank you. And most importantly they are learning to hold the door open for others and to help each other.

I as a teacher can teach things to my students, but having items to help make the classes fun and engaging adds so much more. You will always hold a special place in my heart for the gift you have given my students. Thank you will never be enough.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Kim
