I teach a Graphic Design course to students in 9th-12th grade at a self-contained school for students with emotional disabilities. Our school is low income, so a large majority of the students have never been exposed to much technology. I have been trying to get a Silhouette purchased by my district, but have not had any luck as it has not been within the budget. The students do not have any experience in graphic media arts, so it is my job to expose them to everything it has to offer. Often times this sparks creativity within the students and they have a new interest in digital arts and media. Some have even stated that this is what they would like to do when they go to college. Because this is such an interest with students at my school, I would like to expose them to as much as possible. If we were able to get a Silhouette machine at our school, we would be able to create so many things that we have not been able to do in the past. I would love to create t-shirts, mugs, stickers, decals, items for our school store, projects for teachers, school/classroom designs, etc.
