This kidney table will allow me to easily create and implement group work instruction in my middle school special needs classroom. I teach basic reading, 7th grade Language Arts and 7th grade Math in the resource classroom setting. A kidney table in my classroom will allow me to conduct goals-based instruction where I can teach lessons and easily see each students’ independent practice while providing individualized instruction to another student. I can do phonemic awareness or reading fluency drills with one student while another practices syllabication and I will be able to be close to and easily see all students’ work. This will allow for needs-based grouping, station work in my classroom, differentiated instruction and so much more. Close teacher proximity is very helpful to keep my students engaged in instruction and a kidney table will allow for this!
