Operation Focus And Learn

I would like to thank everyone that donated to the project Operation Focus and Learn. Your support has not only touched my classroom but it has also touched and supported other classrooms at my school. Initially some of the students did not know how to use the bouncy ball, but after modeling to them how to safely use them they enjoy using them. When my class saw the kinetic sand they were ecstatic to have them in the classroom. The supplies that were donated to the classroom is truly a blessing because they help my student self regulate when they are over stimulated. Whether it is the sand that helps them calm down, or using the bouncy ball to help them cool down, these supplies are an amazing addition to our chill out zone. My current students and future students will be thanking you for the support and love that you have shown them.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Mission Tiger and 3 other donors.

Prior to Covid, my students were able to transition to gym, art, music, dance and lunch. But now due to rigid safety restrictions, they are stuck in the classroom. Now, they have a ton of built up energy, and that tends to cause them to go into crisis and interrupts them from learning. A typical breakdown or meltdown consists of screaming, crying, knocking things down and sometimes hitting others. Materials like the bouncy ball and sensory cushion will be such a tremendous help in my classroom. During my lessons I implement movement breaks where students have the opportunity to get up and move. Students will be able to use the bouncy ball as a way to release all of their built up energy and have a little fun at the same time.
