This classroom project was brought to life by PNC Grow Up Great®.Developing Math Skills Through Fun Games
Funded Aug 25, 2021My students were able to feel and experience the fun of learning Math through the use of these math games . So when I first explained to them what these games were all about, they all were so excited . And when I showed to them the games, their eyes glowed and they all shouted " we are ready to Play and Learn !"
These math games helped them better in understanding math concepts and improved their skills. They were enjoying and learning at the same time. They told me they don't want to go virtual again since they can't play these games virtually. They had shown improvement in their math skills since using these games. And when I asked them how they got their answers, they were able to explained it to me . I was surprised and happy!
I will continue on using these math games especially during my small group instruction. It really helped them a lot in understanding different math concepts. Thank you so much!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Allstate Foundation and 2 other donors.Fun with Math Games
Funded Aug 4, 2021I formed small groups to work with my students and showed them the materials/games that they are going to use for their activities and you could see the excitement on their eyes. They readily worked and got engaged ; asking questions and I could even hear their conversations trying to help one another .
The Math Talk were there and it's the first time I heard them conversing with one another using Math vocabulary. An example would be the Place Value game, they were able to understand better the Expanded form, written word of the numbers and base 10. They were so engaged that they don't want to end the game . They kept on asking when we will do this again and were always excited to do the different games. Once I announce, we are going to do small groups, you will hear them cheering since they are really enjoying and at the same time learning and improving their math skills.
I will still continue on using these games since I know that they will benefit from using these activities. I will do the challenge activities for those who really had shown great improvement with their Math Skills .”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gotencio
