The Pop Up Book Shop!

Thank you for supporting us! Because of you, 84 special needs students were able to choose a book of interest, receive a pop it, and a bag of popcorn, and develop their love of reading! Keep in mind that for many of these students, reading is a hated activity; it's difficult, and time consuming, and after years of struggling with reading, it leaves a bad taste in their mouths. But during the Pop Up Book Shop, books of all levels and interests were offered, and they embraced it! There's something about being able to CHOOSE what you like when you read that just makes you WANT to read! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 2 other donors.

By offering a "Pop Up Book Shop," my students will be able to read at home and begin building or adding to their own home library to read independently, or with a friend or sibling. My students already struggle with enjoying reading, but by them being able to choose books that interest them, it will help them grow stronger in reading. Popcorn and Pop Its are just fun for a "Pop Up Book Shop," and help increase their interest in "shopping" for their new favorite books. Thanks for your support!
