  • Soothing Sensational Sensory Breaks

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

I wish you could have seen the faces of my students when the sensory items was brought out. The first brain break I let them play with the fidget toys before transitioning into a new task. Each child was able to put up the toy and move into the new activity without any issues. One of my students was so excited that he wanted to share his toys with his peers. Sharing was new for him so I encouraged each one to share with one another. I plan on next year to start a new project for different seating options for my students. Thank you much for your donation to fund my sensory project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. April

  • Nook Book Needs

    Funded May 18, 2021

Thank you for your donation! My students have enjoyed a reading nook inside the classroom. Everyday I have a time for my students to check out a book from the Book Nook and they have time to read and look at the pictures. I work on identifying the front and back cover, author, and illustrator during reading time. Some of my students have not been introduced to a book, so one of my skills I teach is how to take care of the book. We take time to turn each page and look at the pictures while I read the book. My future goals for this classroom is to build up this reading nook for my self-contained classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. April

As my students learn to read, I want the library to have a variety of options for each one of them. The students will be able to check a book out during library time and read on their grade level. Students will be able to work on reading a book and then take the book home to show parents how much they like reading. The selection of books were made to help my students work on grade level reading. I have observed my students this year to know what genre they like and what characters they like the best. My students in my classroom have been taught this year how to treat a book and now I believe it is time increase my library from a few to several different options for them. My students have showed improvements over the last year of wanting to learn to read and to read on grade level.
