One of the challenges of learning Chinese is remembering and recognizing Chinese characters. Learning Chinese writing as a second language is a little like learning to draw. By combining art and Chinese learning, my students will be able to have a deeper impression of each character they have to learn throughout the school year. Not only will they be practicing writing old and new characters/words on their individual whiteboard daily, but they will also be able to practice writing Chinese characters with a traditional Chinese calligraphy brush, ink, and paper weekly. This is to ensure they can commit the words into their memory and create muscle memory on their hands and fingers.
