I have 18 five and six year-old students in my kindergarten classroom. They are an energetic bunch that love coming to school each day. They are engaged in their learning and soak it all up like little sponges!
Our school is a small lab school on the campus of our local state university. We are a school of diversity, serving students from many different cultural and economic backgrounds. Many are from low income homes. Our district, like most these days struggles with funding. Our school building is located on a college campus and not owned by the district we serve. Our school is the only one in our district that has not undergone renovations that would keep us equitable with the remainder of the district. Many of our classroom furnishings are outdated and in need of replacement. This is not possible during financial difficulties.
