Let's Get Crafty!
Funded Nov 5, 2023Learning a language is tough. As a language teacher, I wanted to stress to students that there is more to a language than simply the language. I wanted to get back to activities that are hands-on, and get them off their computers. Through your generous donations, I was able to purchase colored paper, markers, rulers, and many other resources that allowed my students to complete cultural projects. We especially enjoyed our Day of the Dead Activities.
Students are always excited when the markers and color paper come out. Students have seen the projects that have been done in previous years, and know the expectation, and how to get their project "on the wall".
With these resources, their are so many more cultural projects that I am planning and I hope they enjoy them just as much.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Nevada Department of Education.Engage in Spanish!
Funded Dec 13, 2021Thank you so much for contributing to my Donors Choose Project "Engage in Spanish". With the donations, I was able to purchase many different interactive activities/practices through Teachers Pay Teachers. These activities allowed me to go back to the basics with paper and pencil activities, where students were not just sitting behind their computers.
When the students arrived and saw the desks put together in small groups, they knew that something different was going to take place. Students rotated between vocabulary and grammar activities, both written and spoken. I can't tell you how well the students do.
I think students need a break from technology and this definitely helped do that. I am already planning my next station day!
Thank you for your support.”

Conjugation Clouds!
Funded Dec 13, 2021Thank you so much for contributing to my project "Conjugation Clouds." I used this as a stations activity as the students were learning how to conjugate verbs in the imperfect tense and it went over very well.
The students were excited upon entering to see all the colorful paper and string on the desks and couldn't wait to see what they were doing. In their groups, they had to choose different verbs and put them together. We quickly learned it was better to hole punch before writing!!
This was such a hit with this verb tense that I plan to do it again in the future with another verb tense or adapt it to another grammar point.
Thank you for your support of the Spanish program.”

Manos Arriba!!
Funded Oct 9, 2021Thank you so very much for the supplies that I have been able to use in my classroom. With these supplies, I have been able to get the kids out of their seats and engage in hands on activities. The dice are a hit and they all want to use them for any activity we do!
The kids have also commented on how much they love the mints by the door. It's one of the first things they look for when they enter and with the mask mandate still in place, they really like having them during the class period.
Now that I have more supplies, I am constantly looking for more more activities where students are more hands on and less on their chromebooks.
Thank you so much for your support!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Nevada Department of Education.Yarn Skulls and Molas for Spanish Class
Funded Aug 9, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations of yarn, glue, scissors, and paper to make our yarn skulls and molas a success. With these supplies, students were able to participate in the cultural, hands on activity for "Day of the Dead."
Students were amazed at the variety of colored yarn they had to choose from to make their skulls and molas 'pop' in the classroom. Students were excited that their project was put on the 'wall of skulls' for future classes to see.
During these challenging times, it is so important to remember that hands on activities are still important in the classroom, and I thank you all for contributing. I look forward to doing more activities like this as the year goes on.”

Authentic Materials for Mrs. Kingman's Spanish Classes
Funded May 9, 2021I want to thank you so much for funding my donors choose project. Being able to purchase Teachers Pay Teachers Gift Cards during distance learning was such a valuable tool for me as I waded through the new era of distance learning.
With the gift cards, I was able to purchase activities such as online games and escape rooms. Trying to keep the students engaged during distance learning was extremely challenging, and I was so grateful to be able to purchase materials that other teachers had been using and had much success with. As we transition back to an in person format, we have been able to cater these activities to in person games. It is so great to see the students work in teams to tackle these adventures and actually see their faces when they finish.
Again, I wish to thank you for your generous donation. Donors Choose is such a valuable tool for educators and we wouldn't be able to provide these resources without your help.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kingman
