The use of audio/video recordings to capture evidence of student learning and to create meaningful learning experiences is one of the most innovative practices to come from our experience with remote learning. Video projects instantly create engagement in all classrooms. Students love to create unique products to showcase their learning. Sharing their video projects with their peers piques their interest and gives them a real-world connection to their learning. As students critique and revise their own work they develop a growth mindset that transfers to all areas of life. The sky is the limit for learning when students are engaged in work that has real-world applications. Audio/video recordings do just that by giving all projects an authentic audience in the school and beyond. Recordings do not take the place of writing, they enhance it. Students further develop their writing skills as they adjust their writing style and revise their work to fit the intended audience and convey the intended message. Students get to perfect their writing and speaking skills as they revise their work for content, clarity, tone, and readability.
