I will use these tools with my students in individual and group counseling as well as giving them to students to practice coping strategies at home. Students learn deep breathing by watching the ball expand and deflate. They learn to count backwards from 10-1 by squeezing a squishy ball while counting and checking in to see if their level of stress came down. Sensory tools are taught as a calm down strategy for students to deal with anger. Some students need a tactile tools to fidget with during instructional time because it allows them to sit for the lesson.
