Childhood obesity is a major health crises that has shown to impair cognition and motor performance. Approximately 1 in 3 children in the US is overweight or obese. These children are more prone to being bullied by schoolmates and have lower life satisfaction scores. They are more likely to have low self-esteem which can translate into feelings of shame regarding their bodies. Studies have shown that overweight/obesity were linked with poor academic performance and lowered educational outcomes. By donating to my project, you will help me begin to address the challenges of childhood overweight/obesity by providing me with the tool to identify those students.
